Pantene Gets Tangled in Beautiful Lengths Campaign

Disney’s “Tangled” is the modernization of the story of Rapunzel, and what a tale her 70 feet of hair tell! Pantene has partnered with Disney to spread awareness of the Beautiful Lengths program that creates free wigs for people who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.

The saying is hair is the crowning glory, right? Get involved in a project that makes others feel like royalty when they could really use a boost.  Your part is growing enough hair to donate.  Don’t worry – you don’t need 70 feet.  It takes six ponytails of hair at least 8″ long to make one wig, and wig construction takes about six months.  Why not pledge this process with 5 of your friends?  It will be fun to realize at the end of the journey that you’ve donated enough for one full wig!

Is the thought of getting your hair donation ready still a bit overwhelming? Pantene’s celeb stylist Danilo gives a step by step so that you can confidently grow your hair long, strong, and Beautiful Lengths ready:

  • DO use a conditioner after every wash to help keep hair moisturized and protected against damage.
  • DON’T use a brush on wet hair when you step out of the shower; once hair is washed and conditioned, use a comb with smooth, wide-set teeth to gently detangle hair, working from tip to root.
  • DO use a spray, leave-in conditioner for extra protection when using heated hair appliances.
  • DON’T attempt to blow-dry soaking wet hair immediately; to expedite your blow-out process and help prevent thermal damage, towel-wrap your hair for 10-15 minutes and remove excess water before using a blow-dryer.
  • DO look for new technology in your drying and styling tools to help minimize damage.
  • DO use a root-lifter spray to achieve volume; avoid excessive teasing of hair, as it can uplift cuticles, making them fragile and susceptible to breakage.
  • DON’T overbrush hair; despite the common myth that 100 strokes a day are good for hair, this can lead to breakage. Regular, gentle brushing promotes hair health and natural oil distribution.
  • DO use deep-conditioning treatments once a week, or as often as needed, to help minimize split ends and keep hair in top condition.
  • DON’T wait more than eight weeks to get hair trimmed; regular salon visits are essential in keeping hair healthy and beautiful.

I’d also add that taking Biotin and/or pregnancy vitamins helps tremendously.  Keep in mind that hair growth tends to slow a bit during winter, so don’t get frustrated.

She’s Got the Look – Katy Perry American Music Awards 2010

Blushing bride Katy Perry took the stage at the AMA show styled by Pantene Celebrity Stylish Danilo. This contemporary Hollywood look adds volume to long locks and is flattering to a number of faces. It’s also easy enough to try at home with these step-by-step instructions from Danilo:

  • Wash hair to start with a clean base.  Danilo prefers clients wash same day, and used Pantene Pro-V Fine Flat to Volume Shampoo and Conditioning to cleanse and remove buildup.
  • Before the blowdry, apply Pantene Pro-V Fine Heat Protection & Shine Spray to protect against heat.  Don’t use a heavy hand – only a fine mist is needed.
  • Section hair out and spray with Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Root Lifter Spray Gel.  This will give you the weightless volume combined with body and shine.  Blow dry hair focusing on base to give height.
  • After hair is completely dry, use a medium curling iron and spiral curl each section.  Lightly spray with Pantene Pro-V Touchable Volume Hairspray, pin curls up and let cool.
  • Once curls are cool, remove and gently brush out so that the wave pattern is present.  “What I love about this look is that the wave is at the bottom, opposed to a retro look where the hair is curled under.”
  • Finish with Pantene Pro-V Touchable Volume Hairspray

St. Pucchi Couture Bridal 25th Anniversary – preview

 We’ve been having some technical problems on the site (hey you yelling “User Error! User Error!” pipe down), but coming up I’ll be ready to unveil some fabulous bridal collections and stories. First up, the stunning couture line, St. Pucchi, headed by President and designer Rani Totman. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the bridal line, there was every silhouette a bride-to-be could envision herself in on that special day. This style was only one that wowed the crowd.
