Events, Milwaukee: Donald J. Pliner at Boston Store Bayshore

Chicago-born Donald J. Pliner, that designer of footwear that is sexy but of wearable proportions, will be at Bayshore Boston Store tomorrow, May 7th, from 10am-3pm. He’ll be showing his collection and providing consultations, discussing trends and – if you bring in your shoes or purchase a pair – will be signing.

This gives me impetus to dig out my gorgeous hot pink kitten heels with the butterfly string (it has just been too cold to wear them).

Mr. Pliner is also selling a logo shirt for $25 at this event where proceeds will benefit Donald Pliner’s Peace for Children Foundation.

Last Chance to Win Tickets to Oprah

Like Oprah? Like her hairstylist Andre Walker’s facebook page for a chance to win tickets, airfare, luxe hotel accomodations and a meet & greet with Andre Walker himself.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here over a decade and never made it down to see Oprah. However, it is possible I can live vicariously through you. With 15 or so shows left, Andre Walker Hair, the stylist who has created Oprah’s looks for the last 25 years, is offering a sweepstakes for two tickets and more to one of the last 15 Oprah Winfrey shows.

All you have to do is:

The winner will receive two tickets to “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” round-trip airfare for two to Chicago, two nights at a Chicago luxe hotel and a meet and greet with Andre Walker. Rules and regulations apply.

One winner will be randomly chosen for him and a guest to attend The Oprah Show. Subsequently, the winner will be announced on HSN during the next Andre Walker show. Entrants must be legal US residents and 18 years old to enter. No velour for you

Fashionable headbands are all the rage right now, but does that work when you are working out? Northshore Fitness guru Marcela Parea has been stopped all over town with these amazing works of art. The headbands are soft, made of a moisture-wicking material and extra wide to keep you looking neat. They also come in multiple patterns and colors but sell out so fast I’ve only got a few shots of the blacks and whites. Kate Middleton Royal Wedding: Why Bridesmaids Wear White

Who’s That Girl?

Color for bridesmaids is a relatively new thing, an American thing in particular. And while Kate and William switched many things up to be less traditional British and a little more red, white and blue, one move was decidedly without color.

When I saw Pippa and the party I was so excited an old ~~superstition~~ tradition carried forward.

It used to be that the bridal party dressed in white to confuse any evil spirits from successfully targeting and taunting the bride on her most important day (and ever after). Of course I’m not sure this is why Kate chose white for her day, but Pippa looked so smashing there won’t be a ghost of a chance this royal wedding is getting ruined.
