gloProfessional: 60 day Challenge

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by glo to take part in a 60-day challenge using only glo products.  Sure, I’d heard of the mineral skincare line that is only sold in spas and salons, but what was that about a skincare line?

My products have to rotate out quite a bit, and sometimes what I’m using works, and sometimes it doesn’t work so well.  I was coming off of a product that my skin had a terrible reaction to and almost put off my appointment.  I’m glad I didn’t.  An esthetician examined my red and raw face (yes, I had to show up without makeup) and a plan was quickly formed.  Not only does gloMinerals have a line that is very concentrated with active ingredients, there is also a medical grade line available.  In house, peels and other skin treatments are available.

I had no idea.

I was sent off with a bevy of skincare products to start:

  • Purifying Gel Cleanser
  • Super Serum
  • Repair Complex
  • Purifying Tonic
  • Conditioning Hydration
  • Eye Restore

and, of course, the mineral makeup.

I’ll be talking about every single one of these items in the coming weeks.  Today I want to discuss the glo Purifying Gel Cleanser:

Purifies skin without stripping away natural moisture. Salicylic Acid deeply cleanses pores while antoxidants protect and soothe the skin.

I have combination skin that has been a little dry as of late.  Along with the problems I had going on, I was surprised a milk cleanser wasn’t recommended.  All fears about drying out further with a gel cleanser were put to rest with the first use of this product.  I love the consistency!  glo Purifying Gel Cleanser has the perfect viscosity – you just want to keep applying it to your face.  No runny, watery or super thick and goopy stuff here.

Next, the ingredient salicylic acid is wonderful for decongested skin (it unclogs pores and is the ingredient used in those spa peels).  It leaves it feeling clean but soft, and definitely improved with twice daily use.

This cleanser is one of the best I have ever used. I *want* to wash my face everyday, which is half the battle.  I don’t think I have ever felt that way about a cleanser.

Josie Natori – the highs & lows in fashion for 2011/2012

Josie Natori, the designer famed for her seductive designs in the lingere department, has struck a deal with Target to create a line that will launch around October 31st for the Christmas season and January for Valentine’s Day.  The line will create a middle ground for the luxury cuts and fabrics she’s built her empire on.

But what will you wear over it?  The Natori collection, of course.

Natori’s presentation during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was filled with metal metal metal.  It started off with a custom kimono (available for order only)

Most of the collection was in black or muted tones, but when there was color, it popped.

I am completely enamored with hammered metal. As a belt and forearm cuff? Die.

The guests were stylin’ as well. Her eyes matched her fur which matched her matcha. Her lips and nails dead on. This is a case where I loved matchy-matchy.

This outfit is so fantastically 80’s!  It featured a top piece that acted like an infinity scarf or cowl neck, which could be removed.

MAC’s Ruby Wu was the red lip of the day, with Old Gold pigment

Natori’s presentation centered around the Japanese Tea Ceremony

Of course I had to ask. Josie wore YSL nail lacquer.

Nail Swatches Category in Header bar

Swatches are grouped up on the header bar (scan the top if you haven’t spotted it yet) for quick reference.  Uploading continues at a slower pace than I’d like, but at least it appears to be working now.  I had it broken down by company, collection and color but it wouldn’t load correctly.  I’m hoping this will help streamline the searching for all of the swatches through multiple posts!
