TEEN VOGUE UNIVERSITY – the gift that keeps on giving

For my 13th birthday, I asked my dad if we could travel to South America to get a pet Ocelot. After letting that “No” slide off me like water on a duck, I followed up with a request for a Persian kitty. Decline xs 2.

When I turned 16, I thought I would go a little easier on him.  I asked my father for a subscription to Vogue.  I had been buying issues here and there, but I needed more.  Like on the monthly.  These dreams too went up in smoke when my father went to the store to preview a copy and saw – gasp – nekkid people in the fall issue!  At least that’s how he was ratted out by my sis when I opened up my present and found a subscription to the delightful but completely different direction of SEVENTEEN.  I was crushed, but this time I didn’t even had a backup plan.  Vogue was the holy grail, and I had to do without.

Oh, teens have it so much easier these days.  Not only is there a TEEN VOGUE magazine version for the young and fashion hungry, but TEEN VOGUE is the host to 525 lucky young women each year for TEEN VOGUE UNIVERSITY, a program for those aspiring to careers in the fashion industry.  Hopefuls apply to participate in the three day event, soaking in knowledge from industry veterans and experts providing all of the inside information that could possibly be dished in this intimate climate.

Is this your first time hearing about it, and you are finding it is SOLD OUT?  Pssst – here is your BACKUP PLAN:

You can still get in on the action for one of the most jam packed days of the event.  Via webinar, you can watch live or later – your choice.  PURCHASE BY OCTOBER 12TH.

  • View the sessions from a special Webinar – you can be privy to the information, even if you can’t be there in person.
  • Buy before October 13th and get a special registration price of 24.95, or after October 13 for $34.95 (you snooze, you lose ten bucks)
  • Check it here http://fora.tv/conference/teen_vogue_fashion_university_2012

She launched her line in 2004, showcasing feminine, romantic, ruffled designs that have since become her signature. The brand earned a devoted celebrity following, and after moving to New York City in 2007, Fetherston was a recipient of the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award and finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. In 2009, she was inducted as a member of the CFDA. Last year, she debuted Erin, a new contemporary line, which is enjoying critical acclaim from retail and press. Fetherston will share what inspires her designs and her girly style aesthetic.

 PHILLIP LIM

Leading a pioneering force in the industry, Phillip Lim embodies youthful elegance and personal style. Lim will take you behind-the-scenes in what the day-to-day is like for this influential designer and his steps to success.

How does that even sound like a backup plan?  Sounds pretty front and center when you think about it.  If you are unsure about a future in fashion, TEEN VOGUE University is the perfect time to dip your toes in the information with a small but meaningful commitment.   Already have plans to attend?  I’d love to hear about it.   ~xo

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman Created Natural Beauty for J Mendel: s2013 Fashion Week

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, celebrated girlish, natural beauty with matte brown eyes and nude lips for J Mendel’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

“I wanted to create a look that is universally beautiful, that any girl would want to wear.” says Westman. “Because the collection has so many bold and bright colors and patterns, I kept it pretty simple and fresh. I started with a muted brown shadow on the eyes, lined the inner rim, then added mascara to both the top and bottom lashes to make the eyes pop. A warm flush of peach on the cheeks and a simple glossy lip rounded out the look.”

For a classic meets modern look, celebrity manicurist, Jin Soon Choi chose a timeless nude color for the hands and paired it with something more unexpected and fun on the toes. Choi used bright red, purple and pink on the toes, depending on the model.
