Emmys 2013: Claire Danes

Claire Danes’ adorable photobomb is making the rounds on the internet, and how did she get such a ravishing glow, you ask?

Get the look:

Celebrity Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada used Leonor Greyl’s Huile Secret de Beauté as a finishing oil. That’s right, this natural oil usually targeted for hair was the perfect touch for arms and overall glow. Huile Secret de Beauté is enhanced with a beautiful, soft scent of natural florals that can also double as a barely-there perfume. One of my all time favorites.

Twinkle Nail promises truly flashy nails

Twinkle, Twinkle, little nail

Only from Korea could we get a nail insert that lights up when you get a phone call, or make an electronic payment. This wafer-thin, radio activated non-powered LED illumination can be placed under a tip, under soak off gel, under decals, and is waterproof. Shazam. You’ll need to download an app so the chip recognizes your smart phone’s calls/texts/payments, but that’s easy enough. The Twinkle Nail doesn’t release until December, so we’re basing all of our information on marketing propaganda (please be real!). Check the slightly bizarre peer pressure focused video to find out how it can change your life. Certainly your manicure.

CND for Michael van der Ham Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

London, UK (September 16, 2013)—Professional nail care company CND revealed four unique nail designs today at the Michael van der Ham Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Show at Hotel Café Royal in London. CND Co-founder Jan Arnold and an elite team of CND Nail Artists collaborated with the designer to create works of art that beautifully complemented the designs presented on the runway.

After a fulfilling artistic collaboration with van der Ham last season, CND was thrilled to join forces with the designer again for Spring/Summer 2014. “Michael’s couture fabrics and modern take on femininity are both classic and inventive – they inspire us to create true works of art,” said Jan Arnold. “His collection ties in beautifully with our Spring trend, ‘Open Road,’ which consists of time-worn pastels for the modern muse. This girl is free-spirited and spontaneous with an eclectic edge.”

CND’s partnership with Michael van der Ham this season produced four soft-focus nail looks inspired by a deeply romantic and impressionistic garden. “Hand-painted flowers in combinations of yellow and grey, teal and black, pink, grey and coral, and the deepest navy and purple provide a cacophony of color on a ‘casual’ shaped nail as easy to wear as your favorite ballet flat,” said CND Lead Education Ambassador Amanda Fontanarrosa. “Tonal, painterly, dreamy and whimsical, this nail style is perfectly imperfect and reflects beautifully the woman of Michael’s inspiration.”

Jan Arnold and CND have been pioneering nail artistry on the runway for 17 years, setting trends backstage at Fashion Week since 1996. They continue to define the trends in New York and around the world with highly artistic and intricate nail concepts developed in collaboration with innovative designers like van der Ham.

“It’s really exciting to work with CND because they have a true understanding of how to finish a look,” said Michael van der Ham. “They come with a great set of ideas and concepts to complement the clothes in the right way. The nails this season are beautifully hand-painted – like little works of art on the hands.”

MBFW: Diego Binetti, Carolina Herrera and Morgan Taylor polish

September 10, 2013

Patterns and lace played a key role at Diego Binetti by adding charm to hemlines and romanticizing the manicures. Three white nail looks were designed by Danielle Candido with the DIY nail art fan in mind:

1. Exaggerated moon manis using Morgan Taylor All White Now as the moon and Morgan Taylor In the Nude as the base accented other nails polished in In The Nude.
2. A crisp white cross-hatch mesh look gave the illusion of texture under gleaming top coat Make It Last.
3.  Lace Moon Manicures added drama to fingertips with white lace from moon to tip and In The Nude at the moon.
At Carolina Herrera‘s show, where elegance reigns, Gina Edwards created a delicate, feminine look for the hands using Heaven Sent, a milky white polish, on soft oval-shaped nails.
