Courtney Cox Arquette & David Arquette: Deal or No Deal?
Crushing, but not unexpected. The romantic-yet-odd pairing of Courtney Cox and David Arquette appears to be on the brink of Oversville.
Married in 1999, the couple famously had engraved “A Deal Is A Deal” onto their wedding bands. Their lives were reportedly full of wacky (Halloween costumed wedding invites) and tear jerking (antique diamond necklaces, Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone wedding songs) moments back by a couple determined to stick it out. Even when she wouldn’t put out (Cox waters down last of Diet Coke for David):
While the wedding band sentiment is touching, it is also a testament to the the trials a long term relationship must endure. In this case, more often than not we heard about the incompatibilities of the couple (she’s a perfectionist, he’s, um, not). The couple met on the set of Scream, which filmed scenes in front of my office in California. We saw a lot of blond Rose McGowan, but anyway, that film was a breakthrough for Cox. She was better funny than dramatic! And she found a man.
Cox and Arquette continue to work in the upcoming release of Scream 4. Will they be able to rekindle the commitment or will they take a hint from the movie slogan and consider it a new decade, new rules? I hope the Aniston itch isn’t to blame. Just because you are BFFs doesn’t mean one good divorce deserves another.
