Roger Smith Hotel : New York City

You’ve refreshed the bedbug site a thousand and one times and are reaching a mild panic because you cannot find a pest-free hotel.  You want someplace with a convenient location, affordable for New York rates, and being customer service oriented would be a big plus.  Sounds like you need to check-in to the Roger Smith Hotel.

I stayed here during my brief trip to New York, connected by @bsimi @rshotel (follow them on twitter).  They were very helpful in getting me set up.

This boutique hotel surprised with toile.  The bed was extremely comfortable.  The closet held a robe.

The signs in the bathroom reminded guests to conserve water.  I’m originally from drought-cursed California, was only staying two days, and have a long travel & home habit of trying to conserve water.  Nevertheless, declining maid service for the two nights really panicked hotel staff.  “Don’t you need towels?” they worriedly asked when they called the second day.  No, I still had a full set left!  A set for each day.  Hm. How many towels do you go through during a stay? Or at home?

Unfortch, NYC decided to conserve water by shutting it all off on Saturday, an important day.  I was thankful that the cold was running, but did you ever see the lo-flow Seinfeld episode?  Yeah, I ended up with the same flat hair for a big event.

I hadn’t booked a suite, but was pleasantly upgraded upon arrival.  It was so nice to have the extra room.

I don’t have shots of the dinette (blurred) or hall closet, but there was a small kitchen:

I loved that from one of my sets of windows I could gaze at the Sunday market setup, then walk outside to enjoy it.

Roger Smith Hotel is also heavily connected with social media activities and fashion events.

They had their own runway shows set up during Fashion Week.

The hotel’s location was very convenient for my activities, the rates were great, it felt safe and there were interesting events happening.

If you are used to W or maybe a Marriott, it is a little different experience here.  However, if you are looking for any of the above you’ll be thrilled!

…and Roger Smith is still one of the few hotels that remains clean from bedbug infestation.
