Empower Nail Art at ISSE – new!

Are you heading to the professional only ISSE Long Beach show? If you are, you’ll be one of the first to be able to check out Empower Nail Art, a new polymer-film nail coating by creator Lucien Henderson. This unique wrap allows full creativity for the nail tech by providing templates to cut to desired shape, or of course free hand at will. Have you ever had difficulty getting a good fit on certain nails? Empower Nail Art’s 7″ x 3″ format ensures you can cut to size, either for the difficult natural nail, or if you want to customize, say, a stiletto nail.

How it came about:

Nearly a year of research resulted in a product which seeks to fundamentally change the way films are used in nail art. After leaving Minx Nails last March, Lucien Henderson searched the marketplace for a product which answered the challenges of pre-cut nail wraps. Pre-designed and pre-cut appliques had too many limitations and a flexible film that unleashed creativity is what was needed, Lucien believed. Empower Nail art’s unique material and production methods may answer that challenge.

The above abstract designs look like there is a rendering issue with the pdf and probably not the actual design. The pricing is pretty sweet, and claims up to 25% more usable materials with no left over sizes. The Premiere Collection of 20 prints launches in March on EmpowerNailArt.com .

I’ll be getting a preview batch of Empower Nail Art and I can’t wait to test them out and share with you here. Check back for the ISSE booth number.

CND updates from the World Summit: Shellac, Brisa Lite, new LED Lamp

It’s been a long near year in the waiting, but exciting product developments mentioned by CND at the EA event in april 2012 are coming to light during the CND World Summit. An overview:

Shellac colors 2013

Not sure who swatched these but I think it was someone in the UK. The colors always look better than the promos.

23 Shellac colors will be released in 2013 (some limited edition):

5 for spring (see above photo)
4 for summer
6 for fall
2 holiday duos (for a total of four)
4 additional year end

New CND Brisa Lite

Two soakable gels are available now. Unlike current market products such as Calgel, BioSculpture or ManiQ, Brisa Lite has an advanced adhesion and requires no buffing of the natural nail.

Brisa Lite Smoothing

Have clients that have problems with peeling? Brisa Lite Smoothing will do the trick. This thin, protective layer applies just like Shellac for added strength underneath your Shellac applications. Soak off time is 15 minutes.

Brisa Lite Sculpting

Brisa Lite Sculpting adds strength and length. This also requires no buffing of the natural nail and is an option for extensions for your e-file adverse clients. Soak off time is 30 minutes.

Shellac can be worn over enhancements, and Brisa Lite is no exception. New education will be incorporating how to properly apply Brisa Lite.

New LED lamp for Brisa/Brisa Lite/Shellac

This has been in the works for a while, and you may have seen some evolution with your Shellac. The new lamp will cure all three products now, but is not scheduled to come out until summer 2013. No pricing, photos or other details are available.

New tagline

A new tagline was also announced, which seemed oddly familiar?

New Lacquer Line

Colours & Effects was discontinued, and you’ve probably seen it on clearance. A brand new line of polishes should be debuting. Will update when information is released.

She’s got the look: Rachel Weisz, Vidal Sassoon hair at Golden Globes

Rachel Weisz took on a “very old Hollywood glamour” look at the Golden Globes, as styled by Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Celebrity Stylist Ben Skervin

Ben Skervin sought to channel sexy 1930s hair to compliment Weisz’ Louis Vuitton dress. Her red lips and nail tips were pretty smashing as well.

Thanks to Vidal Sassoon Pro series for sharing the step with Solessence readers so we can try this at home!

Here’s how Ben suggests getting the look:

Starting with damp hair, apply Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Heat Protect & Shine Spray and blow-dry hair straight.

Once hair is dry, tuck hair behind left ear. On that same side, take small sections and curl hair down a 1-inch barrel curling iron.

After 20 seconds, remove the iron and pin the section in a roll while it cools. Repeat this process until the whole head is curled.
Then, on the untucked side, repeat the same process but with a ½-inch curling iron to give a stronger wave around the face.
Once all the hair cools, remove the pinned sections and brush hair into a soft, sexy wave.
To keep hair tucked behind the ear, apply a small amount of Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Mega Firm Hold Gel.
Lastly, lightly mist with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Extra Firm Hold Hairspray to hold the style in place, leaving it with a sleek, finished look.
