TEEN VOGUE UNIVERSITY – the gift that keeps on giving

For my 13th birthday, I asked my dad if we could travel to South America to get a pet Ocelot. After letting that “No” slide off me like water on a duck, I followed up with a request for a Persian kitty. Decline xs 2.

When I turned 16, I thought I would go a little easier on him.  I asked my father for a subscription to Vogue.  I had been buying issues here and there, but I needed more.  Like on the monthly.  These dreams too went up in smoke when my father went to the store to preview a copy and saw – gasp – nekkid people in the fall issue!  At least that’s how he was ratted out by my sis when I opened up my present and found a subscription to the delightful but completely different direction of SEVENTEEN.  I was crushed, but this time I didn’t even had a backup plan.  Vogue was the holy grail, and I had to do without.

Oh, teens have it so much easier these days.  Not only is there a TEEN VOGUE magazine version for the young and fashion hungry, but TEEN VOGUE is the host to 525 lucky young women each year for TEEN VOGUE UNIVERSITY, a program for those aspiring to careers in the fashion industry.  Hopefuls apply to participate in the three day event, soaking in knowledge from industry veterans and experts providing all of the inside information that could possibly be dished in this intimate climate.

Is this your first time hearing about it, and you are finding it is SOLD OUT?  Pssst – here is your BACKUP PLAN:

In 2009, she was inducted as a member of the CFDA. Last year, she debuted Erin, a new contemporary line, which is enjoying critical acclaim from retail and press.
