The shape of things to come: Spring/Summer rounded nails, Squovals for fall
We all know there are color trends with nails, but did you realize that nail shapes go in and out of favor as well?
In past seasons we’ve seen the stilettos and almonds make a resurgence. This spring we eased into the round and oval nails, which elongate nails and helps to carry nail art. The oval is a tough shape for most to grow out and usually requires enhancements. But if you haven’t had a chance to try these beautiful shapes, do it now!
By fall 2012, we are heading back into the squoval. The squoval is a combination of square with oval and seems to be the most complimentary and easiest shape to wear.
The most famous squoval in the world is probably the Shellac promo, prepped by Roxanne Valinoti. Not a day goes by someone doesn’t ask about that “ideal” shape:
The French manicure is making somewhat of a comeback, but the white, blocky,squared-off look is still off limits. Don’t date your hands.

No one does this shape better than CND!
Remember, trends exist to allow us to experience new and different styles! While you always want to work with the style most complimentary to your hands, jump at the opportunity to try new things while they are in. You’ll look like you’re on top of your game and won’t feel as self-conscious about stepping out of your personal style box.
