Norma Kamali takes the catwalk to new dimensions with 3D show and shopping site – MBFW
Just as she broke ground by being one of the first in fashion to have an online presence, fashion designer Norma Kamali is doing it again by going 3D with her spring 2012 collection. She had a private presentation during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week launching the line and website going live:
Attendees were given a pair of trademark Kamali look 3D glasses to view the 67 piece collection via a film screening, and a preview of the website before it went live:
What do you think of the NormaKamali3d.com site? Are we steps away from a Total Recall experience, where ads call out to you? I personally love that Kamali is truly moving fashion forward in this sense. The footage is particularly animated, but I think even a catwalk or natural scenes would work. In this medium you have a chance to see how the fabric looks, how the piece moves. Pretty interesting, but a lot to take in. You get a chance to see a little humor too, as with Look 29:
If the video isn’t showing I apologize, I’ve tried multiple ways to get it to load. Go to NormaKamali3d.com to view the entire collection in 2d or 3d. You can also request your own set of 3d paper cateye glasses there or on Norma Kamali’s Facebook page. Over 17,000 have been requested to date.
