Flashback – NYFW fall 2011: Carolina Herrera

Can’t remember what the designers wanted you to wear for this fall? I know, February was another lifetime ago. Never fear, here’s the recap:

Carolina Herrera was completely lush and elegant. Velvets, jewel tones, thin belts, gloves, unique treatment/seams – damn it was pretty. And those shoes, I want those shoes. Herrera proved you could take a break from edgy and just be beautiful. The orange/copper/teal combo was absolutely striking. Top notch models like Chanel Iman, MAC makeup artists and CND nails polished Dark Ruby rounded out this lovely collection.

Material Girl launches line of beauty products

Material Girl, Madonna’s clothing line launched with/for daughter Lourdes Leon, is branching out into beauty.  Among the offerings is a lineup of nail polish reminiscent of the old style Butter London bottles.  Lourdes is said to love the bright but sheer sparkles that keep the polish fun, but not over the top, for school.  The line will be offered at Macys.

Cheap Thrills with Cellophane Accents for CND Shellac Nail Art


Ooooh, so I’m working on August nails (green for peridot, Leos!) and I decided to stop and share this cost-saving art trick with you. It involves lots and lots of cellophane – after Christmas sales you know. Use as shown or with a puncher to create shapes. Try to keep edges smooth though, or they are hard to lay right. I’ve got these inserted into CND Shellac.

Rafael Nadal launches Armani jeans campaign next week

Oh it’s love alright

Tennis star Rafael “I’m too sexy for my shirt” Nadal is glamming up his gams for next week’s super secret and sexy ad campaign for Armani jean. Macy*s Herald Square in New York City claims dibs on a 20-foot tall billboard, natch.

What’s in it for you?

Aside from feeling a little vindication (take that Victoria’s Secret!), the first 200 to purchase a pair of jeans from this 2011 Armani Jeans Collection will have their photo taken with Rafael during a VIP meet-and-greet.

Think that isn’t enough to get your knickers in a twist? The first 100 to drop a Benjamin-and-a-half ($150) on Armani Jeans product get an Emporio Armani underwear brief signed by Nadal.

No word on if he takes them for a test drive first.
