Sneak Peak: Minx Naja Rickett line to debut at IBS Las Vegas

Minx mistress Naja Rickett of Nail Talk Radio (she got Minx on Lady Gaga for several occassions) is coming out with her own designer line of Minx! This follows the heels of Lisa Logan’s geometric launch, and is one of four nail artists Minx is featuring. Rickett’s line is to debut at IBS Las Vegas , and she’s got some exciting layering options specifically for CND Shellac to go with the new looks. Check back here for the rest of the previews closer to showtime, but for now I just have to say I LOVE this art deco look on Ke$ha:

NOTD: Bling Finger

This look is a play on words, just like it sounds. Bling Finger = Ring Finger. I first did this for the week of the Royal Wedding, but loved it so much I did it again:

My first set was very long stilettos, but these almonds are much more manageable. I used CND Shellac in Cocoa, then applied crystals just to the back moon area. Simple, elegant, eye catching.

Gaga Ousts Winfrey on Forbes Celebrity Power List

Not even she could dream that four years later she’s more powerful than Oprah

Oprah Winfrey gets unceremoniously bumped the last year on her show from the top of Forbes Celebrity Power list by Lady Gaga! Four years ago, when Oprah started her hold at the #1 position, Gaga, was still a brunette transitioning into the cultural icon. Forbes cited her earnings, 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers as helping her reach the topp. Wonder if her ride will last as long.

NOTD: Real Snakeskin Mani/Pedi

Ok manicurists, we’ve all done the faux netting snakeskin nails in school, but Terri Silacci took it one step further and played with actual snakeskin to create a trend people are paying $150-$300 per manicure for. I first saw this in Nails Mag or Nail Pro during their competitions, but honestly, never thought it would take off as it has due to the slight creep factor. However, this technique has been splashed all over the media and I’m even getting tweets about it. It does give an interesting twist to texture, and if you’ll wear it on boots, why not your nails? You’ve got to admit, it looks pretty good in the video.

Summer/Fall 2011: Shellac Color Previews

CND has issued a preview for the six new colors: Zillionaire, Studio White, Moonlight & Roses, Purple Purple, Asphalt, Hotski to Tchotchke

These new colors up the color choice to 30, introduce a softer white, and increase layering options. I’m thrilled with Asphalt, a common request, is now in Shellac.
