Hot Trend: Black-Tie Hairbands at MET 2011
Elettra Wiedemann 2011 MET Ball headband glam by Devin Toth, Ted Gibson Salon NYC
Last week we looked at fashionable, sporty headbands for working out and casual wear, but did you ever think a headband could top off a black-tie look? Devin Toth of Ted Gibson Salon gives Solessence readers a step-by-step on how he created this fabulous look for Elettra Wiedermann (yep, Isabella Rossellini’s daughter wearing a dress of her grandmother’s, Ingrid Bergman reworked by Prabal Gurung) from MET ball 2011:
Prep hair with Ted Gibson Hairsheets (they tone down static and add conditioning shine at the same time) Blow out using a small, round brush for volume Set hair using a 3/4″ curling iron and work Beautiful Hold hairspray through waves to keep it looking more sexy and fun than bridal/promOnce her hair was ready, Devin completed the look this way:
I had her look up and blew her hair towards her crown which created a very loose, soft, upstyle. I then pinned it into a high chignon, covered by waves. I finished by accenting her hair with 3 Maison Michel head bands and a final spritz of Beautiful Hold hairspray.
I love how the metallic bands set off the Grecian look of this dress. Maison Michel headbands are accented by shells, jewels, feathers or comprised of entire multi-strands of pearls. Elettra’s thin bands with gleaming accents sets off the pretty look, helps keep her hair off of that beautiful face and dresses up the entire outfit. You definitely want to try this.
