MB Fashion Week – New York: Lela Rose

Lela Rose was all about confident glam, from the hair to the lips to the nails. Celebs in the audience included Brittany Snow (wearing Lela Rose), Rose McGowan, Shantel VanSanten and Lynn Collins. There were a few unusual sets at the beginning that just didn’t seem to fit the young, fresh look of this designer, but that quickly fell away as the show progressed. Knee highs that give a double take as boots were an adorable addition. Feathered skirts, paintbrush textiles and gradient/ombre with strong greens and teals make for a lush, romantic fall look.

Hair – Ted Gibson lead: Devin Toth (pictured above, left)

Gorgeous finger waves and long pony was the look.  Ted was sent off to the Grammys!

Makeup: Stila  lead – Sarah Lucero
Makeup artist Sarah Lucero discusses the merlot lip she create for Lela Rose and the must have products to make this look work

Nails – Deborah Lippman
Deborah Lippmann was also whisked away for the Grammys and her husband Jude took over, describing the color that Lela Rose went with for the runway. Cha-ching!  It’s Billionaire.

Skin – Clarisonic

This was a first.  Clarisonic was backstage giving models cleansing, then Opal marine serum treatments.  I was given a treatment and I have to say – wow!  It was absolutely refreshing.  I have the Clarisonic and especially love it in the shower.  Invest!

TRESemme Works the Crowd at Fashion Week

Attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York? You’ve got one more day to treat your tresses by TRESemme. A sponsor of fashion week, they’ve taken over a huge corner with a two-story location where you can wait on white leather seating and get escorted upstairs to have your hair refreshed during the event.

Who will be working on your hair, you ask? This is way beyond beauty school trainee – a style team that includes the like of Jay Palaniuk, editorial hair stylist. Jay has worked on numerous covers and in-house events and will give you all the details to the science behind how the TRESemme products work to give your hair amazing style.

One of the mousse products contains special polymers that may eliminate the need for followup hairspray, depending on your style. You’ll get great shine and hold with less product (always a plus).

This is a perfect way to spend time between shows. This isn’t a popup but the waitlist has been long all week, and there is no mercy for the wanderer (your name will get erased and you’ve got to start at square one again). It’s okay, the Kefir people continually walk by with bottles, making sure you have enough sustinance for the wait.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion week through February 17th.

Lucky Magazine FABB Conference: Hillary Fry & Joan Rivers

Thank you to Lucky Magazine for surprising me with these shots in my gmail just now. I attended Lucky Magazine’s inaugural Fashion and Beauty Bloggers conference with 150 attendees just before Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week started (more on that soon). It was an exciting time seeing their social media/blogger outreach methods unfold, and Joan Rivers was a wonderful speaker. She made us laugh, she made us cry, she made us mad as hell not to take it anymore, and she told us to know when we had to eat it and know our place. She was also very gracious.

NYFW: Tadashi Shoji Fall 2011

This time around, Tadashi Shoji’s designs were flowy, often long and texturized with feathers, lace, rosettes and draping. Jeweled colored dresses that leave you feeling as if the sun is going to give a long, slow kiss goodbye into next season. Catch the runway finale at the end.
