2010 PGA at Whistling Straits: Tickets Available

The PGA Championship is being held at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin this year and this week has been opened for individual day ticket sales.  One adult ticket holder can bring up to four (4) juniors under 17 years of age at no extra charge. My 5 year old has been dying to go.

I thought we’d be there for the practice rounds, but the day is escaping us.  We’d also read weather was going to be bad in Kohler, and it appears rains have affected practice.  Also know if you are heading out, mosquito season has been unlike anything we’ve seen in years.  The buggers are swarming in daylight hours, so bring the repellent.

At 1pm today, Stuart Appleby will be at Town Center to sign.  Bring your gloves!

Dilemma: I Spy…Disease

As a licensed nail tech, I see a lot of skin and nail woes when someone comes in for a manicure or pedicure.  I am so into the skin and nailcare portion, I look forward to consultations and getting clients to an agreed upon path to having the best hands and feet possible.  Although manicurists aren’t licensed to diagnose or treat medical issues, per say, we are often the first to be able to alert a client to a possible problem. This poses a dilemma.  If someone mentioned:

  • Half and Half nails could be a signal you need liver testing
  • Wavy horizontal Beau’s Lines are a clue to a systemic disturbance/matrix damage
  • Dry, flaky, welts on your legs need immediate biopsy for skin cancer

Would this anger you or make you consider checking things out?  Is your salon time a time to escape all of your cares, or do you look to your nail tech for advice?  Nail techs, do you tell all, or is your policy “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to clientele?

Philip Treacy Runway – Chicago

YouTube has extended their video time limit to 15 minutes so I am finally able to post this exclusive video of Philip Treacy’s invitation only show at Neiman Marcus in Chicago.  This is only his second time in Chicago.  Enjoy the show.

:I love so many of these designs!: Celebrity couture hat designer, Philip Treacy held an invitation only runway show at Neiman Marcus Chicago. Solessence was in attendance and brings you exclusive footage of the show that served as a kickoff for the Parkways Foundations 8th Annual Garden Party Luncheon. One of a kind hats were brought over from the UK by Treacy, and RTW styles were brought in from Neiman Marcus locations around the US.

My aunt’s father was a milliner and I’ve always been fascinated by the trade.
