How do you get great nails? Shellac is the answer. Here is a little FAQ I wrote for About.com that I hope will answer many of your questions on the product. Check it out here, as well as swatch posts here and a video here! And scroll down to see supporting photos of product under weeks of wear and tear.
A Shellac manicure is the easiest way to give natural nails the beautiful, finished look of gel or liquid & powder without going artificial.
For the last 5 weeks I’ve put it to the test on clients and on the most notorious nail polish abusers known: the stylists at Harpo’s Salon in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. After exposure to water, hair dye, gardening (yes) and cuticle biting, Shellac stayed strong, shiny, and kept the nail beds healthy.
The difference is clear: An example of nail condition after gel and nail condition after Shellac
Erica’s hands – before Shellac, hair dye stains and all
Erica’s hands after: The Shellac manicure leaves hands looking beautifully finished with a high shine for a top coat.
Before Shellac, Harpo’s owner Peggy Dixon was only able to keep a polish manicure nice for four hours. Here are her hands after 3 weeks of Shellac!
Condition after three weeks of Shellac: Harpo’s owner Peggy Dixon has perfect nail beds after removal.

There is a new soft white coming out any day now called Studio White that is perfect for American French. Also, Moonlight and Roses, an all-time favorite sheer, will hit the shelves at the same time. Here is a link to my preview post. I’ll have swatches up as soon as my bottles get in. http://www.solessence.com/2011/05/17/summerfall-2011-shellac-color-previews/
I hear there is a new (not so white) french tip white coming out in August/September…any word on what it’s name is so I can watch out for it?
Lindsay, two coats of Strawberry Smoothie.
